An eerie history as a torture centre during the Indonesian occupation doesn't stop this large, salmon-pink building from being one of Timor-Leste's most pleasing hotels. Comfortable rooms have minibars, tais (woven cloth) bedheads and attractive furnishings. Rooms at the back are much newer, with bigger balconies, but front rooms have character and more outlook. There's also an upmarket restaurant (mains US$11 to 14).
