Hotel Barceló Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo

Still known to locals as Barceló Lina, this outpost of the Spanish chain is within walking distance of the Plaza de la Cultura and is steps away from the city's main east–west artery. The recently renovated rooms are spacious and have all of the features of a business-class hotel, and a swanky VIP rooftop lounge includes a hot tub. Bathrooms are especially nice.

The inner courtyard pool and lounge area is equal to any of the Malecón hotels. A casino, a bakery, a cigar lounge, a piano bar and two restaurants – one Japanese and the other a recommended buffet – mean some guests never leave the property.
