Trapeze, kickboxing, physical therapy camp, a half pipe for skateboarders – certainly not your standard hotel offerings. Then again, this ecologically minded, solar-powered and self-described 'upscale hostel' is meant for those seeking an unconventional beach holiday. No TVs and no air-con in the spacious and simply furnished fan-cooled rooms.
Families and groups should consider the huge three-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse. All of the produce at La Mesa Taina, the newly opened restaurant and sushi bar, is either grown on the property (using aquaponics) or on an organic farm near Sabaneta de Yasica. Attached and affiliated with the hotel is the kitesurfing school Go Kite Cabarete. Yoga is offered twice daily for US$15 per class.
