On the edge of a lagoon a five-minute walk inland, this lushly landscaped property has small, colorful and rustic backpacker-style cabins; larger, modern rooms with kitchenettes in a two-story, Victorian-style building; and, best of all, two colonial-style, all-wood rooms with louvered windows in a 'tower' above the kitchen and dining area.
During the high season, Cabarete Surf Camp has a fun social scene with great barbecue dinners – nonguests should consider heading here, especially for the churrasco. A nice pool and surfing and kitesurfing packages are offered – in fact, it's ideal for those looking for a laid-back base from which to learn how to surf or kitesurf.
