There are three separate blocks in this enormous hotel. The main block is ornate and features rooms decorated in traditional Uyghur style, which is definitely an acquired taste. The second block is aimed at backpackers and has more functional rooms, which are clean but lack air-con. The third block was being transformed into a hostel at the time of writing.
It's hard to imagine a more extravagantly designed lobby, and with a popular beer garden and the former imperial Russian consulate on the grounds, this is definitely not a run-of-the-mill place.
