This former mom-and-pop joint has upgraded to a stylish Tibetan building on the southeastern corner of the Barkhor. The homemade recipes such as yak meat in tomato sauce are still good, but you can now add chicken curry, yak burgers and steak to the menu. The three floors are also much nicer, with a particularly charming rooftop offering great views of the Jokhang.
If you are interested in creating, not only eating, dishes from the menu, take the two-hour cooking class (¥250 per person including dinner; 4.30pm to 6.30pm), during which you can learn to make authentic momos (dumplings) and Amdo-style noodles.
