Shangri-La Hotel

It was really only a matter of time before the Shangri-La brand opened a hotel in Tibet. The decor is modern and tasteful, and there are fine restaurants, including an excellent buffet and lovely outdoor seating in the Shambhala Bar. Five-star facilities include gym, oxygen lounge and clinic – most likely in that order, considering the altitude –plus a pool and spa.
