Jiayun Mingtai Hotel

Sichuan

This is an impressive new addition to the Le Shan hotel scene. River-facing rooms have big, free-standing bathtubs overlooking the chocolate brown river while the (noisy) road-facing rooms have giant, wall-projected TV's that made us feel like we were in a lecture theatre. Needless to say, the road-facing rooms are to be avoided.

Staff are sweet and there's a delightful teahouse (open to all; ¥20) that is an ideal place from which to watch the river rapids.
