With its contemporary designer-style furniture, hanging lamps and exposed brick, Salad Days offers a boutique alternative to Tiantouzhai's rickety inns. Its lounge is the undisputed highlight, with comfy couches and gallery windows looking out to superb rice terrace views. Rooms are modern and comfortable, but show signs of wear, while there's a dorm option for budget travellers.
The food is excellent, with a pleasing choice of local specialities to enjoy on its expansive outdoor terrace. It's a short walk through the village, with a sign directing you down the steps.
