Měitiānsīyú Chóngqìng Xiǎomiàn

Nanjing

This noodle joint serves vast, steaming bowls of rice noodles with copious amounts of chicken, beef, pork or fish thrown in. The fish noodles (水煮鱼片米线, shuǐzhǔ yúpiàn mǐxiàn) in particular is superb (watch out for bones). There's a picture menu on the wall.

Most dishes are spicy enough to make your nose run but you can request your preferred degree of heat: slight (微辣, wēilà), moderate (中辣, zhōnglà) and full-on (香辣, xiānglà). Packed at meal times.
