Frazzled city workers sometimes book into this award-winning futuristic hotel by the hour to recalibrate, and it's easy to see why: an aura of calm akin to a meditation studio surrounds SLEEEP – Hong Kong's first capsule hotel. There are only eight capsules, with shared shower facilities. The hotel is on the steps between Queen's Rd Central and Gough St.
Each capsule comes with a large locker, ear plugs, and plenty of charging sockets. It's all very high tech, with movable magnetic light switches in the capsules, personalised electronic check-ins (you can choose your mattress and blanket thickness), and eco touches like hot water that captures residue from the air-con units. SLEEEP might not be the best option for longer stays, but it's a comfy, cheap sleep for short stopovers.
