A Xinjiang speciality, dàpánjī (大盘鸡, big-plate chicken) is a spicy chicken, potato and pepper stew; halfway through the meal, handmade noodles and greens are added to the mix – the ensemble is absolutely delicious. This is the only dish it serves, so you can be assured it does it well!
A small portion feeds two people, and the large is recommended for four to six people. If you're coming here solo, the lovely owners will be happy to rustle up a (generous) single serving for ¥35.
Yiyong Dongjie is packed with cheery outdoor restaurants serving beer and barbecue. It's a lot less hectic here than at similar places around the night market.
