Chain hotels in China can be fairly predictable affairs, but this huge Holiday Inn on the northern edge of Mudanjiang is loud and proud, from the garish, faux-period facade to the grand lobby befitting a higher-end brand. Rooms are very well presented, and most have views of the nearby mountains. The ground-floor restaurant serves an excellent buffet.
There's also a small gym and a couple of decent gift shops.
