Bionic Brew

Shenzhen

Shenzhen's very own craft-beer brand, American-run Bionic Brew, pours four core beers as well as guest brews from elsewhere in China. But the best thing about this tiny, open-fronted bar is its thrillingly local setting, hemmed in by raucous shāokǎo (barbecue) joints in one of Shenzhen's few remaining 'urban villages'.

Cocktails are available too, including 'secret menu' concoctions like a whisky sour made with Bionic Brew's IPA. Whoops, not so secret anymore then. The taproom can be tricky to find – for detailed instructions check the website.
