Trachung Tsang

Top choice in Gansu

This endearing choice up the hill on the Sichuan side has a comfortable range of doubles and dorm accommodation. The operation is run by Huasang, an environmentalist who has put the sustainable management of the grasslands at the core of his work, reflected in the on-site museum. The stove-heated library–common room is lovely (and the only wi-fi area).

It's a short walk down to the village. Rooms can get pretty cold in winter, but electric blankets are provided.
