Taco Bar

Top choice in Beijing

The king, nay the emperor of Chinese taquerias, Taco Bar packs out with punters feasting on fiendishly tasty Mexican street-style tacos including al pastor (pork belly) and carne asada (steak), slathered in homemade hot sauces. Opened by a Taiwanese-American (whose beloved Beijing mutt Rocky is muralled on the wall), it's a place to party, pouring killer cocktails heavy on the lime and tequila.

Beyond tacos, you can load up on zingy salads, appetisers, nachos and homespun surprises like a grilled-cheese sandwich with carnitas (pulled pork) and garlic aioli. Despite the, ahem, high-spirited clientele, staff are professional and courteous. It's a great place to kick-start a night on the town, but expect to wait for a table, especially on Friday and Saturday.

Between 5pm and 7pm, you get a free taco when you order an alcoholic drink.
