A beacon of foodie fun in a dismal shopping mall, this is Nanjing's best-loved restaurant chain, recreating with theatrical aplomb the dàpáidàng ('cooked food' markets) of southern China. All the tastes of the Yangtze River Delta are on show, from salted duck (served cold) to plump pork-and-chive potsticker dumplings, duck blood and vermicelli soup (delicious!), and even snails.
You can tick off your order via the paper menu, or saunter up to the various in-restaurant market stalls and point at what you fancy.
