Yongan Lu Department Store

Beijing

A throwback to a bygone era, this crusty old department store keeps elderly Xicheng residents in padded winter clothing, traditional Beijing-branded cosmetics and desirably retro (and cheap) enamel kitchenware. It's one of the few shops left where staff still use abacuses to tot up your bill. Look for the murals on the front of the store.
