Run by the friendly Yang family, this slightly rundown guesthouse overlooking a forested valley (and with a terrace to enjoy the view from) is the best reliably low-cost option near the west gate. The owner speaks English and is quite used to helping organise excursions around the forest for foreigners who would otherwise be lost and confused.
