Israeli transplant Tal makes everything from scratch – often with ingredients straight from the motherland – at this fantastic, cash-only Middle Eastern haven for hummus, falafel, shakshuka (eggs with spicy tomato sauce), baba ghanoush, baklava and more. The falafel sandwich (hummus, pickled cabbage, tahini and spicy matbukha in house-made pita) is a revelation. Even Tal's house-cured pickled veggies are memorable.
