Right on the lake, Northland is a good old-fashioned fishing and hunting lodge with a games room, butchery and tackle-cleaning room. The motel-style rooms with kitchenette are perfect spots to crash after a day on the water, while the rustic housekeeping suites with lake-facing balconies are ideal for an outdoorsy break.
The owners, Doug and Marg, are looking to sell but are determined to keep the lodge open until a good offer comes their way. Depending on the season, Doug, a larger-than-life photography, fishing and hunting aficionado, leads guests on wild orchid walks, old-growth forest tours, bird-watching, ice-fishing and mushroom foraging. He can organise boats, powerboats, canoes, fishing equipment and guides, and even turn a moose into sausages.
