This wonderful little shop just inside the main entrance of the Marché du Vieux-Port sells an awe-inspiring selection of Québécois cheeses. For a notion of the tremendous variety available here, check out the Québec Dairy Association website (www.ourcheeses.com).

The date is not yet firm, but the venerable Marché du Vieux-Port is scheduled to quit its port-side location and move to ExpoCité, a multisite entertainment complex that includes the Centre Vidéotron stadium, about 6km north of the old town. Once it's moved, look for La Fromagère there.
