Currently the bagel favorite of Montréal (or is it Fairmount?), St-Viateur Bagel was set up in 1957 and has a reputation stretching across Canada and beyond for its perfectly crusty, chewy and slightly sweet creations. The secret to their perfection seems to be boiling in honey water followed by baking in the wood-fired oven.
Biting into a warm one straight out of the oven is an absolute delight.
