Arts Cafe

Montréal

The Arts Cafe has instant appeal with its plank floors, white clapboard walls and sculptural knickknacks (a frenzy of light bulbs above the windows, vintage farmhouse relics). But it's the all-day brunches/breakfasts that warrant the most attention – excellent fattoush, falafel, shakshuka and cod cakes. Most dishes have a vegetarian option.

Try mouthwatering dishes such as the waffles (served with Guinea-fowl leg, wild berries and pumpkin cream), poutine (made with duck confit, a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce) or kale salad (with wild berries, mascarpone and pork belly). Be prepared for long lines on weekends.
