On the other side of Cape Smokey from Ingonish Beach (a drive of about 20km), this 19th-century lemon-yellow farmhouse is a peaceful refuge, with generously sized rooms in the main house and pretty cottages overlooking the surrounding woodland. It's only three minutes' walk to a pebbly cove.
