Peaked Pies

Vancouver

The Vancouver satellite of Whistler's popular (and often jam-packed) Australian-themed pie shop, this comfort-food haven specializes in single-portion savory pie varieties including beef curry, steak and mushroom, and even ground kangaroo. For the full effect, add a 'peak' to your pie by topping it with mashed potatoes, mushy peas and gravy – then jog around Stanley Park to work it off.

The beef, bacon and egg Ned Kelly breakfast variety is a satisfying way to start your day and you can also add a coconut-covered lamington cake to maintain the illusion that you're actually in Australia. There's also a handy cabinet of frozen take-out pies here if you have cooking facilities in your sleepover joint.
