A groovy makeover a few years back transformed this 1950s downtown motel into a knowingly cool sleepover with a tongue-in-cheek retro feel (neon exterior sign included). Colorful, mostly compact rooms have been spruced up with modern flourishes and contemporary amenities such as refrigerators and flat-screen TVs. But not everything has changed; the hidden interior courtyard's towering palm trees echo yesteryear Vegas.
The hotel's extras include free loaner bikes and access to a nearby gym; there's also a guest laundry if you need to wash your undies. Overnight parking costs $28 but the building's main level includes a hip coffee shop and a popular Burgoo restaurant, so you might not need to drive anywhere after all.
