This once-abandoned church has been a gathering place for performers and audiences since being officially designated a cultural space in 1973. Following comprehensive renovations a few years back, the beloved Cultch (as everyone calls it) is now one of Vancouver's entertainment jewels, with a busy roster of local, fringe and visiting companies staging everything from spoken word to puppet shows to Ibsen plays.

Check the online calendar to see what's on stage here during your visit. Following its own sparkling renovation, the nearby York Theatre was also added to the Cultch stable in 2013. Check the Cultch's website to see what's on there; look out for the annual East Van Panto, a rip-roaring Christmas show that sells out every year.
