Cooks Restaurant

Vancouver Island

In a town that trades on its outdoor affiliations, there’s always a place for guilty-pleasure eating indulgences which, in the case of this new snack shack, means burgers. The ultra-simple menu narrows things down to a three-way choice between fried-chicken sandwiches, grilled-cheese sandwiches and the default burgers. It’s all unashamedly uncomplicated and old-school with everything made from scratch.

Fries and slaw are offered as sides, and the root beer’s 1950s-good.
