Hotel Selkirk

Edmonton

If you're into the idea of visiting the past at Fort Edmonton, why not take it to the next level and spend the night? This historic hotel has simple period-decorated rooms from the roaring 1920s, and staying here gives you free entry into the fort and its surrounds. There's an on-site restaurant and English high tea ($20) on offer during the summer.

Once the park closes, it's quiet – very, very quiet.

Note that the hotel is closed until 2021 to the general public, but available for special events.
