Búzios

The name says it all at this homey hostel one block from Geribá beach. After an eight-year round-the-world trip (New Zealand, Europe, United States), Rio Grande do Sul–born chef Eduardo has brought his infectious gaucho hospitality to Búzios, inviting guests to disconnect from technology and enjoy human interaction: surfing, kayaking, playing board games or joining one of his cooking classes (R$70 including dinner).

The comfortable dorms come with unusually wide bunks; there are also family rooms and a welcoming garden area complete with hummingbirds, fresh herbs and vegetables.
