Behind a beautiful neoclassical facade, this renovated hotel retains much of its original architectural detail, but does not skimp on modern amenities. Stained-wood floors, painted moldings and black-and-white photos give the 24 rooms an aura of understated elegance. The lobby, designed with a Jenga-like aesthetic of stacked Brazilian-walnut support beams and fireplace, is a sight to see.
The candlelit coffee warmers at breakfast are a nice touch and service is generally excellent.
