Canela Hostel

Rio Grande do Sul

This welcoming option in a wooded residential area feels more like a home than a hostel. The eight-bed mixed dorm features a nice living room/TV area while the female dorm has a desk and mirror that can masquerade as a vanity. The private rooms in the adjacent annex feel a tad woodsier than the more frou-frou options in the main house.

One downside: If the dorms are full, you'll have 16 people waiting in line for three showers.
