Pai Thomaz

Bahia

Pai Thomaz (the nickname of the original owner) opened in 1981 and was famous for its superbly spiced Bahian cuisine. The restaurant closed in 2005 and was reopened in 2015 under new management, but with the same popularity. You can get excellent moquecas (seafood stew) and admire wood carvings from local artists Doidão and Louco which decorate the walls.

Although the name of the restaurant is the same as the titular character in the Portuguese translation of Uncle Tom's Cabin, the theme of the restaurant bears no relation.
