The 18th-century convent attached to the Igreja da Ordem Terceira do Carmo has been converted into a comfortable guesthouse, with no loss of atmosphere. Rooms are spacious, with tall ceilings and heavy wood floors. The classy on-site restaurant, A Confraria (11am to 10pm), is open to the public.
