Hotel Stari Grad

Bosnia & Hercegovina

Although this hotel is not actually old, heavy beams, wood panelling and a heraldic fireplace give this comfortable little place a look of suavely modernised antiquity. Beneath the part-glass floor of the appealing lobby restaurant are the excavations of an Ottoman-era hammam (Turkish bath). The six standard rooms are somewhat cramped but decorated with monogrammed mirrors and framed pictures of old Jajce.
