Hotel Itauba Eco Resort

Amazon Basin

Situated on the edge of a private lagoon about 200m from the bus terminal, this small resort entertains guests with canoeing, fishing, volleyball and a menagerie of rescued animals (mostly macaws). A lovely thatch-roofed restaurant is perched just above the water, while modern two-story cabins are set back in the trees. Campers can set up tents here for B$35.

1. Museu Histórico Municipal

3.72 MILES

This sad little museum includes stuffed and pickled animals, random photographs and a handful of indigenous artifacts. Too bad they don't focus on the one…

2. Cathedral

4.1 MILES

Guajará-Mirim's main cathedral is oddly huge, with twin bell towers rising high above the stark flat street level. It's muscular rather than beautiful.
