Chumey Nature Resort

Bhutan

This peaceful rural retreat is surrounded by fertile fields and whispering pine forests. Its 14 rooms are comfortable, cosy and private, set in cottages behind the main lodge, which boasts four sun-facing suites. The only downside is that the cottages are accessed by an uneven path and many stairs. The food, with much of its ingredients grown locally, is consistently good.

The resort has its own lhakhang and can cater for visitors wishing to learn about Buddhism. There are numerous walking trails in the forests and around the village, including to Domkhar Tashichholing Dzong (30 minutes). Mountain bikes can be hired for riding around the valley.
