Six Senses

Top choice in Thimphu

Set in carefully tended grounds high above Simtokha, the immaculate new Six Senses is effortlessly refined. There are no TVs in the graceful, timber-filled rooms, but with the sweeping valley views (including from the bathtub) and bukhari heaters, you won't mind. Everything is about peace and contemplation: an infinity pond reflects the sky, and a meditation room looks out over the valley.

There's a strong sustainable vision at the hotel, which purifies its own water and grows its own organic produce. Most guests are on Six Senses tours.
