The family living quarters of the superb and sublime Ogyen Chholing Palace have been renovated, with modern bathrooms (the best in Bumthang) and comfortable beds, while retaining period authenticity. All the rooms are different, reflecting the original, ancient building.
There are eight rooms in the old mansion with electric heaters, some with underfloor heating in the bathrooms, and six rooms in the outbuildings with traditional bukhari (wood stoves). Another two rooms share a bukhari-heated living room and work well for families. Proceeds go to the trust managing the palace, museum and its grounds.
