Swiss Guest House

Top choice in Bhutan

It doesn't get more bucolic than this wooden farmhouse surrounded by apple and pear orchards on a hill overlooking the valley. In 1983 this was the first guesthouse in Bumthang, but there have been plenty of upgrades since then. Rooms in the new wing are spacious and warmed by bukharis, with comfy beds and clean bathrooms.

The dining room has the best desserts and is the cosiest in town. There's espresso coffee, and you can get Red Panda beer on draught, guaranteed fresh since it's brewed just down the road!
