Belize's oldest fishing lodge remains one of its best. Set in lush, tropical grounds close to the airport, this gleaming mahogany gem is a comfortable and convenient riverside base for anglers. An included airport pick-up involves a short boat ride, and trips to the nearby river mouth, Caribbean sea and some idyllic flats and mangrove-lined lagoons are equally speedy.
Bonefish, tarpon, permit and snook abound in close-by waters, and the lodge provides top-notch guides and rental equipment. There's also a Belize River Lodge outpost on Long Caye.
