If you liked Altay Sadikhzade's cartoon-esque work at Baku MOMA, you'll adore the interior of his eccentric Mayak 13 Cafe. Marvellously absurd rope-tied abstracts represent ripped sails and intersperse a gamut of nautical bric-a-brac. Merrily naive lighthouses, landscapes and portraits splatter bare stone walls. The small selection of beautifully prepared Azer-Euro fusion dishes are classily served, but the portions are nouvelle-cuisine petite.
The place is rarely crowded; indeed you might get it all to yourself some evenings, which adds to the surreal experience.
