Weinstube Josefstadt

Vienna

Weinstube Josefstadt is one of Vienna's loveliest Stadtheurigen (city wine taverns). A leafy green oasis spliced between towering residential blocks, its tables of friendly, well-liquored locals are squeezed in between the trees and shrubs looking onto a pretty, painted Salettl (wooden summerhouse). Wine is local and cheap, food is typical, with a buffet-style meat and fritter selection. Cash only.

Note that the location is not well signposted – the only indication of its existence is a metal Busch’n (green wreath) hanging from a doorway.
