Peppers Kings Square Hotel

Perth

Australia’s tallest modular hotel has perforated metal sunshades and sabres of blue neon dancing on its 17-storey facade by night, though the rooms are less imaginative. Concrete-jungle views are guaranteed; fast wi-fi, pod coffee and free bottled water are other sweeteners. The downstairs lobby restaurant has decent breakfast, but there are better options nearby for dinner. Parking from $30.

A moment’s walk from RAC Arena, hosting big-ticket sporting events and gigs, this mod high-rise is also a whisper from the luxe King St fashion strip, Perth's two pedestrian shopping malls and plenty of hip bar-restaurants.
