A few years can make the world of difference, as evidenced by this unlikely conversion that's seen Australia's premier horse-racing stables transformed into one of the state's more memorable breweries. A big-moneyed venture, the grounds are immaculate – resembling the member's section at the track – with original stables refitted as booths in a tasteful outdoor area to enjoy its quality beers.
Indoors is no less impressive, with the large steel brewing equipment forming a backdrop to the bar and dining area. There are seven of its beers on tap, which you can taste on a paddle (four beers $16), along with gourmet pizzas, burgers and Mod Oz mains.
On the old 1200m racetrack they've planted apple and pear trees, with the goal of making ciders in the near future.
