Table Cape

Tasmania

The stunning flat-topped promontory known as Table Cape was named by Matthew Flinders in 1798 during his circumnavigation of the island with George Bass. An extinct volcano, it is now protected as the Table Cape State Reserve. To get here, take the minor road (C234) northwest out of Wynyard and drive to the lookout and lighthouse. Stunning views out to Bass Strait are available from both vantage points.
