Old Clare Hotel

Newtown & the Inner West

A sensitive brewery-office conversion is now a 69-room hotel in a primo Chippendale location. Rooms are well back from noisy Broadway, high-ceilinged and easy on the eye, with artful bespoke details such as lamps made of salvaged toolshed paraphernalia. Superior categories are appreciably larger, but the cheapest rooms still have king beds, attractive amenities and a good sense of space.

Rooms are open plan with see-into showers (you can request a frosted one) and, in higher grades, great bathtubs. The rooftop terrace has a small lap pool and bar.
