The highest point on Thursday Island, Green Hill is home to the well-preserved remains of a 19th-century fort, built in 1891 in preparation for a possible Russian invasion. You can still see gun emplacements and underground bunkers, and there's a small museum. This is also the place for a sunset picnic with views over surrounding islands. Follow Moa Lane up to the car park.
