Kings Creek Station

Top choice in Northern Territory

Located 36km before the canyon, this family-run station offers a bush-camping experience among the desert oaks. Cosy safari-style cabins (small canvas tents on solid floors) share amenities and a kitchen-BBQ area, while the luxury glamping experience is very cool and the pick of the accommodation options out this way.

You can also tear around the desert on a quad bike (one-hour ride $112). Station tours (adult/child $45/35) take you through the life of a working station. If you're here in August during Brumby Week, you can learn how to 'break-in' (tame) wild horses, known as brumbies; contact them in advance to check dates.

Fuel, ice, beer, wine, BBQ packs and meals are available at the shop (open 7am to 7pm). Ask about Conways' Kids, a charitable trust set up by the owners to send local Indigenous children to school in Adelaide.
